staff & elders :: jake rush
jake rush, elder
as an elder, what is the one thing that comes up daily in your life that you would like prayer for?
seems like lately the need to "know" God's Word and use it, recite it, or apply it comes up daily. To get into God's Word, to soak it up, and use it with grace is a trait that I long for.

favorite Bible verse or the one that most explains where you are:
ephesians 2:8-9 - For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast.
favorite memory of the ring and favorite memory of one of the other elders or staff members:
favorite memory of the ring: cris' baptism was amazing. we also did a real intimate service in the gym with the guys playing acoustic worship in the middle of the floor that I really enjoyed. favorite memory of the elders: several guys were eating out one night and ringo was talking about how he had never been punched in the face. rodney offered to punch him and let him know what it felt like. however the rest of that conversation went, I can't recall, but they decided to "work him up to a real punch". ro began to punch ringo in the chin. the first punch was light. the second punch was a good bit stiffer, and so on, and so on. not much longer (and by that, I mean maybe the next punch) ro clocked him pretty good. that was about it for ringo. I think the rest of us wanted a few more but it was a no-go for ringo. I just remember cracking up watching him get punched across the chin. good times. we need to do that again. sorry, was this supposed to be spiritual?
moment/how you knew God was calling you to be a part of the ring:
fFirst "superchurch" meeting at the triple b house. It was standing room only and got pretty heated on a couple of issues, but it was powerful. That was when it just felt real.
