what’s your favorite thing about being married to blair?
there's never a dull moment. unless it's after 8:30 p.m. when she falls asleep. on a serious note, she pushes me to be the example of Christ that I am called to be.
kids: on the way.
siblings: i have an older brother named david.
if you and your siblings were any television family, who would you be? as sad as it is to admit, probably robert and ray barone.
job/profession: by the time you read this, I will hopefully be a lawyer.
hobbies and/or hidden talents:
i've recently gotten into fishing. as far as hidden talents, i was 2nd chair trombone in 7th grade. there were only two trombones.
passion(s): my wife, the ring, and seeing people fall in love with god.
on the weekends, i am most likely…
helping someone move, and/or spending time with my wife - which usually involves vacuuming
favorite Bible verse or the one that most explains where you are
john 3:30 - he must become greater; i must become less
favorite memory of the ring:
our first baptism service. it was years ago, and we had never done anything like that before. josh threw it out there for anyone who wanted to be baptized. several people came forward. we had each person give a quick testimony about their salvation and then each was baptized. after every single person went under, the congregation in the sanctuary at parkview went nuts with cheers. it was intense to see everyone take such joy in someone else coming to God.
favorite memory of one of the other elders or staff members:
the ring went on a mission trip to new york after september 11. josh decided to save a few bucks and got us a hotel in harlem. let's just say it wasn't the safest hotel or area. on top of that, the weather prevented us from doing nearly every mission oriented thing we planned to do. i remember meeting with josh in the lobby of our hotel to try and come up with something for the group to do; all the while hoping that no one would be murdered before the morning. great times!
moment/how you knew God was calling you to be a part of the ring:
when I was 18, I came to baton rouge for college. I was raised in church, but was struggling to live out my faith. a great friend pressured me to come to the ring and after a while, I showed up. my first time there I saw several guys my age who were actually living out their faith. they loved Jesus. i wanted to be a part of that and i've been around ever since. that was 10 years ago.
