staff & elders :: kyle hawthorne

kyle hawthorne, elder

as an elder, what is the one thing that comes up daily in your life that you would like prayer for?: that I would abide in christ.

born: march 13, 1978

hometown: baton rouge, la

married: ashley hawthorne

what's your favorite thing about being married to ashley?

whoa, is this ever a loaded question-I would have to say waking up to sheer beauty and absolutely no drama every morning of my life. actually, ash and I just really enjoy being around each other, so I guess my favorite thing is just how my marriage is based on such a deep friendship.

siblings: 1 brother, rhett

if you and your siblings were any television family, who would you be?

without a doubt we would be the dukes boys from dukes of hazzard-only this time, the general lee would also have hovercraft capabilities.

job/profession: attorney

hobbies and/or hidden talents:

i love to be outdoors hunting or fishing and for some reason, i have the innate ability to detect awkward moments and immediately extinguish them. (at least according to my wife)

passion(s):

people, my friends/friendships, the outdoors, my wife’s cooking

on the weekends, i am most likely...

gone fishing or hunting.

favorite bible verse or the one that most explains where you are:

john 15:13

favorite memory of the ring:

this goes back to when we meet in the gym at parkview. at the end of the service, if someone needed prayer or needed to talk to anyone about anything, josh used to always tell us to come meet him or an elder under the basketball goal. i loved that. no show, no smoke, no lights, no pretension about it.

favorite memory of one of the other elders or staff members:

jake had a bonfire at his house one night. when the fire was at its hottest, he and jon decided it would be a good idea to see which one of them could stand on the edge of the giant fire for the longest. i think the soles on their shoes may have melted. their faces were so red from the flame. i got a great laugh from that.

moment/how you knew god was calling you to be a part of the ring:

in late 2006, i returned to the ring one sunday night after attending another church for several years. during the middle of the service, it became apparent to me that the ring was a church that just seemed to “get it.” i began attending regularly and the people were just so genuine. it was then that I knew I had found my home church.
